Young people kick start a new Radio Station in Penrhys
The 10 finalists who took part in a special canvass painting workshop
178 young people from all over the Rhondda Fach took part in a logo design and name competition for a new sister radio station to GTFM.
This exciting new venture is based at Penrhys in Canolfan Rhys Arts Centre and starts broadcasting on Monday September 3rd.
10 Finalists from schools in Rhondda Fach were selected to attend a special art workshop at Canolfan Rhys Arts Centre and their fantastic designs were then painted onto canvass for a colourful display in the radio studio.
Due to the high standard of work produced by the children, the public were asked to vote and choose the winner in the Penrhys Open day on Saturday March 3rd. The lucky winner has now been chosen and congratulations go to Kate Israel from Maerdy Juniors whose winning design of a dancing Daffodil and Leek will be used as the final logo for the radio station!
