Penrhys Pilgrims
As part of Breast Cancer Research week, Penrhys Primary School teamed up with Penrhys Partnership and RCT Local Health Board – Health Promotion to launch their ‘Walking your Way to Health Programme’ in Penrhys, whilst raising money for Rhondda Breast Friends.
Dressed in pink, the infants’ school children walked around the school yard, whilst the junior school children, supported by many of their parents, walked to the top of Penrhys Mountain towards Ferndale. On their return the children refreshed themselves with fruit and water, supplied courtesy of Healthy Living Network.
Miss Fisher, the Head teacher of Penrhys Primary school said, ‘It’s excellent to see the school and community working together to raise awareness of healthy lifestyles and Breast Cancer. The Walk your Way to Health programme, supported by Penrhys Partnership will be incorporated into our Healthy Schools initiative; targeted at improving the Health and Well-being of our children’.
The event rose over £100.00 and all proceeds will be donated to Rhondda Breast Friends.
Further regular walks are planned in November, and if you would like to join the group or gain further information, contact Julie Edwards at Penrhys Partnership, Telephone 01443 755008 or email: julie@penrhyspartnership.co.uk
